Mountain Ltd. has an opening for an OSP Engineer III working in the Boise, ID area.

Overview:

This individual will perform detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks that include estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, and budget tracking estimates against actual costs for copper and fiber cables, poles, direct buried and conduit systems. This position is responsible for preparing and interpreting engineering plans, drawings and reports; preparing loop loss design for load and repeater electronics, planning and designing field-mounted switch serving areas, and performing pole, conduit and buried facility design measurements to support company and industry OSP design standards and economic feasibility studies. This position is responsible for specific job budget development and tracking, as well as periodic job inspections and quality control.

Duties include collecting field data, preparing/organizing permit packages for submittal to the appropriate entities, maintaining complex files, keeping records, searching, and investigating information contained in files, processing departmental documents requiring specific knowledge of functional operations, posting records including accounting and continuing property records, typing correspondence and reports from rough drafts, and assisting engineers as requested.

Responsible for understanding and designing network elements providing Fiber to the Home, Copper DSL, Metro-E Ethernet, TDM, Sonet, and fiber solutions. They will interface with multiple groups and collaborate on intra- and inter-state designs for implementation. They will be expected to write projects implementing a solution and have a working knowledge of the equipment used to provide answers to questions regarding installation and function of the equipment when being placed in service. This position will work with local retail, wholesale, and municipalities regularly.

Qualifications:
Ability to identify existing voice/data plant, electric, and other utilities on the site plans as well as in the field
Ability to indicate existing voice/data plant location and relocate facilities, and knowledge of obtaining right of ways and easements where required
Must have experience managing other OSP Engineers and reviewing/correcting their projects
Expert in obtaining right of ways and easements where required
Must be capable of engineering routine and specific COE/OSP work orders, including more complex projects including road moves
Must have expert knowledge of COE/OSP principles, work order procedures, voice/data industry standards, PC applications, and COE/OSP record and/or computer aided drafting systems
Must have own tools such as a measuring wheel, height stock, pull finder, laptop, etc.
Experience with the local networks
Ability to perform quality control on engineering work for other team members
Understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) for engineering requirements.
