JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: EngineeringREPORTS TO: Engineering ManagerEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full TimePosition Summary: Looking for a Controls engineer with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering to oversee and provide all electrical and programming needs to produce specialized equipment primarily for the glass industry. Will need to be able write code for new equipment, and also modify code for existing equipment. Will also be asked to help troubleshoot and support customer issues on the phone and sometimes in the field. This position will also require commissioning of new equipment in the field periodically. We are looking for someone with around 4 or 5 years of previous OEM equipment manufacturing experience but are willing to interview anyone capable of managing themselves and their projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Electrical component specifications and industrial controls, control panel layout.
- Reading and wiring from electrical schematics.
- Electrical wiring and troubleshooting, capable of building/wiring electrical panels.
- AutoCAD for electrical schematics, generating and modifying existing.
- PLC functionality, B&R specifically, Allen Bradley secondly.
- PLC programming in Structured Text.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Prefer minimum of 4 years of practical equipment building experience but not required.
- Capable of travel to customers in the US and Canada.
- National Instruments Lab View programming experience a plus.
- Visual Studio environment (Basic, C, C++) programming experience a plus.
- Moderate mechanical skills to know how to adjust sensors, equipment as needed during commissioning and installation.
- Capable of working on projects and goals to completion dates without being micromanaged.
- Working with previous OEM equipment manufacturers a plus.
