Senior System Engineer (Hayward, CA)
Verdant Robotics develops AI-powered farming implements and data solutions for agriculture. Our Sharpshooter enables transformative applications across all crops and field types through the power of Verdant’s proprietary Bullseye Technology with millimeter accuracy for weeding, thinning and fertilization.
As Senior System Software Engineer, you will be working closely with the CPO and Software team. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining testing infrastructure and software tools used to design, build and control for mobile robotics platforms and industrial machines, deploy the code in a C/C++ environment on-board the robot, and make improvements to our data and training pipelines.
Our core technology empowers farmers to grow more profitable food. Together with our partners, we are building environmentally friendly, sustainable, and highly productive farms. Our office is located in Hayward, CA, about 25-30 mins average commute from most places in the Bay Area. We offer competitive pay and a great team environment.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and enhance our SaltStack infrastructure management system.
- Optimize system configurations for performance and security.
- Manage networking components and IT infrastructure to ensure high availability.
- Implement best practices for system provisioning and maintenance.
- Collaborate on improving our GitHub CI/CD workflows.
- Streamline software delivery and deployment processes.
- Utilize AWS services to expand and optimize our infrastructure capabilities.
- Take ownership of complex system engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in systems engineering and infrastructure management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain complex projects effectively.
- Proficiency with the Linux operating system.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
- Experience with networking, IT infrastructure, and system provisioning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- Proficient in standard software engineering tools such as Git, JIRA, etc.
- Experience with GitHub CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment.
- Familiarity with infrastructure management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
