Position Summary

  1. Leads development and execution of highly complex and large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
  2. Writes highly complex ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, designs database systems and develops tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.
  3. Leverages broad knowledge of market-leading edge technologies and specialized expertise in programming skills such as Python and SQL to creatively solve highly complex business problems.
  4. Provide technical leadership in developing vision, strategy, architecture and overall design for assigned domain and for solutions.
  5. Lead teams, technical projects or programs, and has overall leadership responsibility for project architecture and design.
  6. Actively facilitate complex design and technical discussions, reconciling differing opinions and drives decision making process.
  7. Review and ensure architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible, and cost-effective.
  8. Provide technical leadership and mentoring throughout the project lifecycle.
  9. Provide overall Solution Architecture and define Data Integration Patterns.
  10. Define Architecture and Design for Microservices.
  11. Proactively identify reuse opportunities.
  12. Articulate the tradeoffs, benefits and risks of all architecture and design solutions.
  13. Own strategy of: System monitoring, Capacity planning, Disaster recovery, Production implementation and architecture.
  14. This Role will bring a DevOps mindset to enable big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions that leverage emerging technologies.
  15. Develop prototypes and proof of concepts for the selected solutions, and implement complex big data projects.

Required Qualifications

  1. 10 or more years of progressively complex related experience.
  2. 2 recent years of experience with GCP, specifically working with Big Query and Cloud Composer.
  3. 4 years of experience on public cloud (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP) cloud solution architecture.
  4. Recent experience Data Engineer who has worked with Healthcare data (i.e. Value Based Care, Interoperability, FHIR, Health insurance claims).
  5. Experience building automated big data pipelines.
  6. Experience performing data analysis and data exploration.
  7. Experience with big data frameworks (i.e. Hadoop and Spark).
  8. Experience with deployment/scaling of apps on containerized environment (i.e. Kubernetes, AKS).
  9. Experience with technical solutioning and system architecture design.
  10. Experience partnering cross-functionally with other technical teams (i.e. data ingestion, data science, operational systems) to align priorities and achieve deliverable outcomes.
  11. Experience with setting coding standards, performing code reviews, and mentoring junior developers.
  12. Experience overseeing project delivery by mentoring junior technical developers.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Expert experience with bash shell scripts, UNIX utilities & UNIX Commands.
  2. Expertise in Java, Python, Hive, Cassandra, Pig, MySQL or NoSQL or similar.
  3. Expert knowledge in Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands and experience designing & optimizing queries against data in the HDFS environment.
  4. Expert experience implementing complex, enterprise-wide data transformation and processing solutions.
  5. Has in-depth knowledge of large-scale search applications and building high volume data pipelines.

Education

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related discipline.
  2. Master’s degree or PhD preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is: $144,200.00 - $288,400.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
