General Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Software Team Manager to lead our team in developing an advanced automotive High-Performance Computing (HPC) software platform. This platform will primarily operate on a Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip (SoC) but must also be configurable to run on various SoC's from other leading vendors such as Renesas, Texas Instruments, NXP, Nvidia, AMD, Intel, and Ambarella. The software platform will primarily use the Blackberry QNX Operating System, with the flexibility to run Red Hat Automotive and Ubuntu Linux operating systems as well.

Job Responsibilities:

Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific Astemo, AM site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of software engineers to develop an automotive HPC software platform, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Encourage collaboration, creativity, and innovation within the team. Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and provide mentorship and guidance to team members. Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and budget to meet project goals.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the software platform meets performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Technology Development: Ensure the platform supports standard SoC interfaces including serial boot, PCIe, DDR, Flash ROM, MMU, Ethernet, and USB. Integrate and support standard automotive sensors, with a focus on AD/ADAS, such as cameras, radar, lidar, sonar, and inertia sensing. Manage the development of image processing capabilities within the platform. Implement system partitioning, hypervisors, and container engine technology to enhance platform flexibility and security.
  • Partnership Management: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with technology vendors, startups, research institutions, and other key players in the automotive ecosystem. Collaborate with partners to accelerate innovation and drive mutual business success.
  • Risk Management: Assess risks and uncertainties associated with software development initiatives, proactively identifying potential roadblocks and developing mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Qualifications:

The Ideal candidate will:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of high-performance central compute modules, automated driving, AI, machine learning, perception modules, connected mobility, MLOps, and OTA updates.
  • Technical experience with:
    • SoC architecture : Qualcomm SA8650, Renesas RCAR, Nvidia Orin.
    • SoC Hardware: Ethernet, USB, UFS, Display Port, PCIe, QUP(Qualcomm Universal Peripheral), UART, SPI, I2C, Inter Core Communication, Camera, CPU Kryo, ARM Cortex R-52, Hexagon Tensor Processor, Server, Accelerators, DDR, Flash ROM, MMU.
    • Software: POSIX OS, Board support packages, middleware, hypervisor, container engines, and AD/ADAS technology stacks.
    • ADAS Features: Good understanding of Image processing, Image transfer, Video Input and Video output handling in SoC platform software development.
  • Strong understanding of Classic and Adaptive AUTOSAR software architecture and good experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • V-Model, ASPICE, MISRA, ISO26262, Cybersecurity and Agile framework.
  • Familiar with crypto algorithms, and cryptographic authentication method.
  • Ability to read schematics, electrical block diagrams, and IC datasheets.

Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools is also required.

Education: Bachelor or Master's degree in in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of project management experience and 5-7 years of experience in automotive, HPC, or other embedded system low-level domains.

Job level is determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: leading, building and mentoring the efforts of engineers who are responsible for sub-project activities.

Working conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed. The candidate will occasionally need to travel to multiple global locations to support project development.
