Sophia is an industry-leading provider of low-cost, self-paced online general education courses that are transferable for college credit.
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team! This person is responsible for owning the development, testing, and maintenance of DevOps technologies and practices at Sophia – from managing application infrastructure to continuation integration and deployment. This person works directly with the Sophia Product & Engineering team(s).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs, implements, and maintains the infrastructure for our applications on the AWS platform.
- Uses CI/CD to support applications developed in Ruby and Javascript.
- Support and enhance build and release processes through automation using a combination of processes and existing tools.
- Develops automation scripts using tools such as Ruby, Bash, Python and Terraform.
- Works collaboratively with software engineers to deploy and operate systems across multiple platforms securely and accurately.
- Create and maintain system architecture, design, and automation.
- Responsible for the continual automation, integration, deployment, and optimization of software build and deployment systems.
- Collaborates with distributed team members in the US, Eastern Europe, and India.
- Maintains common security practices and privacy standards.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Certificates, Licenses And Registrations
- AWS or GCP certifications are a plus.

- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Typical office setting.
- Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
- Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
- Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
