Job Purpose
Working closely with our sales, marketing, client success, product, and engineering teams, you'll dive into a powerful data set to help us structure analysis and develop insights that will help to answer important questions that affect millions of patients in today's health care system. You'll also design, implement, and maintain highly scalable big data pipelines, to support internal and external client partners data delivery requirements. Your role will be to conduct different kinds of analysis- informative, correlative or discovery, extrapolative or predictive and adaptive, to address the questions that could be asked of a patient's healthcare data. You will do this by working with data tools and structuring efficient queries to build highly scalable data pipelines and models that answer those questions, providing feedback to data analysts, product managers as well as external stakeholders.
This position is open as contract to hire or direct hire.
Responsibilities

  • Develop automated pipelines, streaming and batched, for a variety of data types and datasets.
  • Design and implement the data architectures to support the data pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines using languages and tools like Databricks, SQL, Python, Apache Airflow, Apache Spark or other data integration platforms, as well as Powershell scripting.
  • Document data engineering processes, workflows, and data lineage to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other external stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data availability
  • Build and maintain custom data pipelines to support ad-hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Ingest and integrate data from various sources into Databricks, which may include databases, streaming data, data lakes, and external APIs.
  • Create and manage data lakes in Databricks, often using technologies like Delta Lake to ensure data consistency and reliability.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Databricks workloads and clusters to ensure efficient data processing.
  • Integrate Databricks with other data tools and platforms, such as data warehouses, business intelligence tools, and machine learning frameworks.
  • Tune Spark jobs and Databricks clusters for efficient data processing, considering factors like partitioning and caching.
  • Implement data security and governance practices in Databricks to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Generate actionable insights by applying analytical rigor to multiple types of data including metabolic data, medication data, lifestyle data, symptom data, socio-economic and social determinant data, and in the future, genomic data
  • Generate various reports and visualizations to provide insight into the workings of products in different customer and operating environments
  • Document projects including business objective, data gathering and processing, leading approaches, final algorithm, detailed set of results and analytical metrics. Develop materials to explain project findings. Explain findings to internal and external business audiences
Required Skills & Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering (additional education beyond the minimum requirement considered as commensurate experience).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a high-power team
  • Experience modeling, recommendations/personalization, working with big data using tools such as Apache Spark, Databricks, and Azure cloud computing strongly preferred
  • Python and SQL programming experience is required
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft BI, R, Tableau preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Welldoc operates in ISO 13485 and MDSAP regulated and HITRUST and SOC 2 Type II compliant environments. Therefore, it is expected that all employees will have either, prior experience working in those environments or, will be trained to understand the requirements needed to work and support those requirements and culture as they relate to individual roles and responsibilities.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics engineering, data science or mathematics is required.
  • Master's degree preferred with emphasis on data science, data analytics engineering, and machine learning/AI.
