Title: Lead Network Engineer

KBR is seeking a highly experienced Lead Network Engineer (Secret Clearance) to join our dynamic IT Team in Quantico, VA. As the Lead Network Engineer for the Training and Education Command (TECOM) Integration Center (TIC) , you will oversee the planning, design, implementation, and management of the network infrastructure supporting Project Tripoli's Live, Virtual, Constructive Training Environment (LVC-TE) . This role is essential for integrating distributed training simulations across Marine Corps units globally. This is a full-time on-site position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The Network Engineer operates with high independence, establishing network configurations, security protocols, and performance standards. Work is reviewed for alignment with Project Tripoli’s strategic objectives and compliance with DoD regulations.
  2. This position involves solving complex network integration and security challenges across distributed systems in a training environment. The Network Engineer must coordinate network operations across multiple locations, ensuring real-time data transmission and security.
  3. The Lead Network Engineer engages with TECOM, TIC staff, and field unit personnel, coordinating network setups, resolving issues, and ensuring successful training outcomes.
  4. Lead Network Design, Maintenance & Operations: Serve as the lead network engineer for the TECOM Integration Center (TIC), overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Marine Training Enterprise Network (MTEN) and other networks to support LVC training initiatives.
  5. Assist in the design, configure, and manage secure networks for SIPRNET , NIPRNET , and Wide Area Networks (WANs) within the TIC and across remote locations where LVC training events take place.
  6. Ensure seamless network integration between live, virtual, and constructive training components, facilitating large-scale distributed simulations and real-time training exercises.
  7. Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and initiate corrective measures to resolve technical problems affecting the training network infrastructure.
  8. Perform network assessments and implement solutions for optimal user access, scalability, and security.
  9. Support to Field Units for LVC Operations: Provide on-site and remote technical support to Marine units and other stakeholders requiring LVC network capabilities.
  10. Work closely with training units to identify network requirements, recommend solutions, and implement network configurations that enable effective joint LVC training exercises.
  11. Assist units in deploying LVC systems, ensuring that the network architecture is optimized for real-time, interactive training.
  12. Cybersecurity and Information Assurance: Assist network security efforts in alignment with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and USMC cybersecurity policies.
  13. Implement encryption protocols, firewalls, and access control measures to safeguard classified information during LVC training events.
  14. Conduct network vulnerability assessments, initiate corrective actions, and work with Information Assurance Officers to ensure all network components meet DoD security standards.
  15. LVC System Integration & Interoperability: Ensure network interoperability between LVC-TE systems by configuring Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High-Level Architecture (HLA) protocols.
  16. Support the integration of third-party models and terrains into the training network to enhance simulation realism and improve training outcomes.
  17. Coordinate with Program Management (TECOM) and field units to develop network solutions that align with Project Tripoli’s evolving requirements and technical advancements.
  18. User Support & Training: Provide technical guidance and training to network personnel and users at the TIC and participating units.
  19. Develop training materials, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides for network users involved in LVC training events.
  20. Lead network training sessions for Marine personnel, focusing on the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the LVC network infrastructure.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 8+ years of experience solving complex network integration and security challenges, including:

  • Expert knowledge of LAN, WAN, SIPRNET, and NIPRNET architecture and specific networking requirements.
  • Proficiency in DoD cybersecurity guidelines to ensure secure, compliant operation of all network components.
  • Strong understanding of virtual and live training environments , including how networks enable their integration and operation.

Work Environment: Primarily office-based at the TIC, with some travel to field units for on-site support.

Work involves moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs, setting up network equipment, and working in confined spaces to configure and troubleshoot network hardware.
