Position Summary

Thermoid is looking for a CI Engineer responsible for driving deployment of the Thermoid Business System to significantly impact the operational performance of Thermoid. This role collaborates with the Thermoid team to develop and implement better tools, machines, methods, and processes. It is a role that requires engineering, continuous improvement, and team facilitation experience. This role reports to the Plant Manager; and is based at the Thermoid Chanute, KS location.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with site leadership to deploy the tools, methods and processes that make up the Thermoid Business System, including Lean Manufacturing and Structured Problem Solving.
  • Collaborate with the Chanute team to develop and implement a future factory vision for the site. This includes urgent facilitation of actions required to execute on the strategy deployment initiatives at the site.
  • Develop and sustain a kaizen event roadmap for the Chanute site, that always has the consensus of site leadership.
  • Utilize technical skills and operational experience to develop technical solutions for business problems that involve tooling, methods, equipment, material replenishment, process controls, error-proofing, overall equipment effectiveness, and others.
  • Execute manufacturing engineering projects developed by or assigned to you, that are directly connected to initiatives on the site’s kaizen roadmap.
  • Actively engage with team members at their workplace, to implement improvements at the site.
  • Facilitate kaizen events and working sessions focused on operational improvements. Drive the outputs of these efforts to completion, in order to reap the full benefit to the site's performance.
  • Engage with site leadership to support and strengthen the Daily Management process.


Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in rubber related industries preferred
  • Experience in continuous flow operational environments
  • Demonstrated experience in lean tools and structured problem solving
  • Proven track record of leading lean initiatives to achieve business results


Technical Skills

  • Ability to accurately assess business and operational metrics, through data analytics
  • Ability to identify safety hazards and implement cost effective solutions to mitigate risks
  • Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office tools and data analysis, with a preference for a navigating knowledge of SolidWorks or similar software
  • Excellent written and verbal communications; and work-related instruction skills
  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments and learning tools
