SGM's is seeking a Civil Project Engineer IV to join our Durango office! As an Engineer IV, you will plan, develop, and manage small- to midsized projects with limited external direction. You will begin to demonstrate leadership in one or more other capacities, such as junior staff supervision and mentoring, business development, client service management, or technical specialization. You will also begin to take responsibility for client relationships. The ideal candidate has the desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado. This position will be posted until filled but no sooner than three days from now.Duties/Responsibilities:Develops project scopes/budgets with modest level input required from others.Routinely leads smaller proposal efforts and assists with many others.Manages scope, budget, and schedule (with minimal oversight) for small- /mid-size projects or major tasks on large, multi-disciplinary projects.Often lead the development of project calculations and deliverables.Manage scope, budget, and schedule (with oversight) for small-/mid-sized projects or major tasks on large, multidisciplinary projects.Planning, directing, and reviewing work and performing higher-level tasks.CAD responsibilities generally include focusing on conceptual layouts, editing, etc.May perform part-time construction inspection.May serve as Engineer-of-Record and review work of other engineering firms on behalf of clients.May serve as designated client service manager for smaller clients or assistant for higher-profile clients, or maybe assistant client service manager for higher-profile clients.Conduct key project meetings for similar projects on your own.Regularly interacts with client management staff and periodically with elected officials.Resolve modest conflicts with clients.Proactively communicate with supervisor on professional development desires & needs.Actively participate in team endeavors and, possibly, SGM initiatives and committees.Provide increased mentoring to Engineer I, II, and other junior staff members. May have a direct report, with or without being a Team Leader.Help secure repeat clients through project performance. Help acquire new business by recognizing and communicating with a supervisor about business opportunities through clients, projects, etc.May lead and frequently assist with prospective new client relationship building.May lead or assist with the development and promotion of new services.Participates in and may lead "thought leadership" activities.Required Skills/Abilities:Thorough understanding of engineering principles, practices, and tools. Expert in Civil 3D (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analysis software.Expert in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using HEC-HMS, & RAS, EPA SWMM, HEC-SSP, and a basic understanding of 2D hydraulic modeling.Significant experience in reservoir design or site design.Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects. Ability to identify and solve complex problems.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to competently present proposals and projects to a stakeholder group.Ability to resolve modest conflicts with clients.Ability to be both creative and analytical.Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.Ability to lead in a close-knit, collaborative team environment.Valid Driver's License and ability to pass MVR.Education and Experience:
