The Washington, DC office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the world’s leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join the Information Technology team. The Full Stack Developer will be a pivotal part of a technology and knowledge management team. Using a data-oriented mindset, this position will bring together law and technology, developing tools and transforming datasets into actionable insights to aid in the efficient practice of law and strategic decision-making to drive innovation, analytics, and data sharing. As part of a multi-vendor and diverse service environment, the full stack developer will be flexible in creating tools that provide the best fit across all platforms.


Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Develop front-end and back-end solutions.
  2. Perform scheduled and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  3. Maintain process mapping/data governance workflows.
  4. Identify, review, and respond to backend dataflow issues.
  5. Suggest feedback regarding system and workflow improvements and developments.
  6. Perform back-end global support and maintenance for all relevant applications.
  7. Escalate complex system issues to vendors and ensure timely resolutions.
  8. Maintain relationships with vendors and develop knowledge to support vendor systems.
  9. Create and maintain documentation that supports current and future applications.
  10. Leverage data analytics methodologies, such as regression, clustering, decision trees, exploratory data analysis, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, and neural networks to mine, analyze, and interpret complex data structures.
  11. Create compelling data visualizations, interactive dashboards, and web applications to communicate effectively across the firm. Translate technical jargon into plain language, making complex concepts accessible to various audiences.
  12. Evaluate, recommend, and partake in trials of innovative technology tools based on firm needs.
  13. Foster a firm-wide culture of knowledge sharing by promoting internal and external knowledge resources and technologies.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  3. Proficiency in web service development from inception to completion.
  4. Knowledge of technology product evaluation and selection for web development.
  5. Expertise in data manipulation and analysis using programming languages such as Python, R, Java, and experience in PHP, JavaScript, bash, HTML/CSS, jQuery, and REST APIs.
  6. Strong command over Linux server administration (apache2, Redis, Postgresql) and regular system maintenance.
  7. Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and statistical methods for complex data analysis.
  8. Knowledge of C/C++, Selenium browser automation, GPT models. React & Photoshop is a plus.
  9. Familiarity with the principles and practices of data mining and data warehousing.
  10. A keen interest in technological trends, particularly in the realm of legal tech.
  11. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, paired with the confidence to share and advocate for ideas in a collaborative environment.
  12. A strategic mindset driven by the desire to exceed boundaries and meet deadlines.
  13. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously while meeting deadlines and business objectives.
  14. Technical skills to develop project design specifications, including identifying appropriate vendors and monitoring vendor work through the lifecycle of projects.
  15. Strong communication and customer service acumen.
  16. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and clients.
  17. Negotiation skills for working with vendors to develop purchasing bids and agreements.
  18. Ability to prepare and monitor project budgets and develop purchasing bids/agreements.
  19. Flexibility to work overtime or travel to assigned office, as required.
