Backend Java Developer

Client: Wal-Mart
Role: JAVA Engineers Focused

• Team of 7-8 (+additional project initiative may be coming as well for another 7-8 engineers)

Duration : Q4 funding presently and through 1/31/24 - hoping to get this to go into next year but need to finalize budgets around that portion still should know in 3-5 weeks about approvals further out
Location: Remote (nearshore preference or onshore blended)
Project Details:

• Working on ATLAS (Warehouse management platform) - rolling that out to new buildings currently and also doing more work to make it usable by their importees (they are still using other systems right now)
  • Goals for deployment to Imports by Q2 2024 and so need additional help to get them ready for that - additional funding to get that work started
• Set up environment and deploy Atlas (multiple applications) to new enviroinment for imports where they can test it and add features for using WCNP (containerization product of Walmart) and then integrate with external applications and set up the environment etc. and then start adding features (work with product team on what features are etc.)
  • Cross functional work for integrated applications (financial, etc.) that they may work on as well
• Build in JAVA/Spring Boot and then React UI (minimal work) and then mobile app that is Kotlin based (also not a big focus)
  • Most immediate/biggest need is JAVA-based

What are the top must-have technologies/required experience for the position ( Try to hone-in to a top 2-3)?

• JAVA
• Spring-boot
• Kafka (may consider similar message streaming/message queuing but this is highly preferred)
• Kubernetes (containerization knowledge)

Nice to haves/Preferred Skills:

• WCNP (Walmart Cloud Native Platform) or other Walmart specific experience highly desired
• IBM MQ

Level of experience target (junior/mid/senior and/or years of experience): high mid to senior level preferred
