OverviewThe Release Train Engineer will coordinate and facilitate all Agile Release Train events, which includes PI Planning, System Demo, Scrum of Scrums, PI Inspect & Adapt and PO Sync. Act as the next level escalation for obstacles reported by Development Teams and strive to empower teams to remove impediments. Works with the Program Team to resolve or escalate risks and issues and ensures collaboration in cross-train Scrum of Scrums.ResponsibilitiesContinuously ensures planned work aligns to the Release Train value streamEnable teams to remove impediments. Act as escalation point for impediments the team cannot remove in a timely mannerOwn escalated impediments and raise issues to leadership if they cannot be resolved in a timely mannerContinuously work with teams and to deliver PI ObjectivesOwn the Agile Release Train Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies (RAID) or Risks, Owned, Accepted, Mitigated (ROAM) logsManage dependencies between Development Teams within and across Programs or Agile Release TrainsPartner with others to identify and address staffing and tool needsEnable and coach teams to define capacity for PI PlanningDevelop and serve as owner of the program release communication plan; schedule and facilitate program release planning activitiesGather and report performance information and metrics (e.g., Release burn down data, etc.)Update and communicate Release PlansCollaborate with Product Management, Systems Architects, teams as neededBuild and maintain relationships with lines of business, teams, management, and key stakeholdersSupport the Communities of Practice as neededHelp bring the Agile community to Navy FederalAssist with developing and delivering training and workshops as requestedBecome an influential leader within for the team and promote Agility across Navy FederalEncourage teams to embrace a Lean/Agile MindsetHelp resolve team conflicts when neededPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsSignificant experience working in an agile transformation successfully coaching and transitioning teams, programs, and portfoliosExperience working with tools such as Jira, Rally, Azure DevOps, etc. to facilitate scrum teamsExperience in creating reporting metrics and dashboards that illustrate the flow of valueExperience in leading successful delivery teamsExperience in software developmentExperience as a Scrum Master or Delivery Lead in leading transformationSuccessful track record implementing Agile methodologiesExperience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendorsExperience in leading, guiding and coaching professional staffAbility to coach and mentor scrum masters and empower the delivery teams to embrace agilityAbility to remove impediments that impact the team's planned executionAbility to create release plans and roadmaps needed for existing product or platform releaseAbility to work both independently and as part of a team in a matrixed environmentSAFe RTE, Leading SAFE or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certificationsAdvanced skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomesAdvanced skill in motivating and uplifting team members using teaching/mentoring skillsAdvanced skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tactAdvanced problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, team building, and presentation skillsAdvanced verbal, interpersonal and written communication skillsAdvanced word processing, spreadsheet, diagramming, and presentation software skillsAdvanced skill to deliver presentations to virtual and in-person teamsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceDesired QualificationsExperience leading Agile teams as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Release Train Engineer, Project ManagerExperience working within an organization going through an Agile transformationAdvanced knowledge of Navy Federal functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectivesPMP, SAFe Program Consultant Certification or other advanced Agile CertificationPrior experience with technical program management, waterfall framework, and working in a hybrid Agile/waterfall environmentHours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PMLocation: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna, VA 22180 | 5510 Heritage Oaks Drive Pensacola, FL 32526 | 141 Security Drive Winchester, VA 22602About UsNavy Federal provides much more than a job.
