Fiber Engineer

Selectek is seeking direct-hire candidates to fill a fully remote Fiber Engineer role with a partnering company serving markets in the northeastern US. The firm is looking for candidates to design fiber-to-the-home route plans.

Expected Pay Range: $50 hourly rate
Location: Fully remote - work sites will be in northeastern US

General Duties / Key Responsibilities:

1. Efficiently plan routes, lodging, and additional accommodations to audit multiple sites and produce deliverables by or before deadlines while staying within budget.
2. Collect and document information from the field as necessary to support engineering and/or the completion of drafting procedures for small cell nodes, FTTx projects, enterprise fiber deployments.
3. Document the best route and provide guidance to fiber design engineer for the path.
4. Review information and documentation prior to transmission to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
5. Utilize proper tools and programs (IKE, Emlid) while in the field to transmit deliverables to the appropriate office/client in a timely manner.
6. Work with Bas approvals for hand hole and other design.
7. Determine standards for Segments, Fiber Counts, and Splitter locations.
8. Design Fiber to the Home, backhaul/transport fiber routes, MDU, distribution/feeder design using provided design software and methods.
9. Work with ISP requirements and provide final document to A&E and construction vendors.
10. Functionally understand easements, right-of-ways, aerial plant, and buried plant to aid in the design process.
11. The ability to read and understand maps, plats, as-builts, construction drawings, and utility records is highly desirable.
12. Perform any/all duties related to fiber-optic (or copper/coax) network designs that may be required for project(s).

Required Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• IKE or Katapult experience, Mapping experience using Google Earth/Maps.
• At least 2 years of experience auditing or performing related services on telecommunication sites.
• Proficient in the use of FTTx design programs, including Arc-GIS, 3GIS, Fond, Vetro, etc.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, flexible start/end times. Some travel to sites will be required, all within the northeast.
