Position Description
• Conduct technical evaluations of weapon systems, subsystems, and components at prime defense contractors and their key suppliers to ensure appropriate planning and implementation of quality and systems engineering requirements has been accomplished. Evaluation results include recommendations for appropriate risk reduction and/or corrective actions.
• Ability to perform Production Engineering (PE) efforts to include, but not limited to: Technical and Procurement Data Package preparation, review, and improvement; configuration management actions; manufacturing contract support including Request for Proposals (RFP) preparation and source selection; First Article Test (FAT) & Lot Acceptance Test (LAT) support; CDRL delivery review; production audits; general technical support; and reporting.
• Provides support prior to production to include, but not limited to, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Production Readiness Review (PRR), Demonstration Validation Test, and Weapons System Explosive Safety Review Board (WSESRB) Support (as needed), effectiveness analysis, interface control, and systems integration. Perform engineering investigations in support of Logistics.
• Participate in the planning and conduct of program technical reviews and evaluations including design reviews, production readiness reviews, quality management system reviews, MRA/MRL assessments, and configuration audits. Participation includes developing quality-related entrance and exit criteria for each review, as well as follow-up on the implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop plans and presentations for assigned projects and create performance, training, and procedure documentation to support production.
• General knowledge of manufacturing processes and production drawings and specifications, including ASME standards as applied to drawings (ASME Y14.100/ASME Y14.5) as well as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.
