The Role
Thornton Tomasetti’s Boston office is seeking a motivated Geotechnical Engineer to be part of our dynamic and growing Transportation practice, collaborating with architects, owners, and contractors to develop efficient solutions for projects of all types, sizes, and levels of complexity. Our group is known for its holistic view with an analytical approach informed by past experience and interdisciplinary expertise between geotechnical and structural engineering. You will be successful in this role if you enjoy working with a strong team, like to communicate with others, and enjoy complex engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- You will assist in the direction, coordination, planning, organization, integration, and completion of local projects.
- There will be ample opportunities for you to communicate with clients and project teams to understand project requirements.
- The day-to-day will provide the opportunity to perform geotechnical and structural analysis and design, present data and results.
- You will be a manager and mentor to other engineers to help them gain knowledge and grow their technical skills.
- Communicate the progress and challenges of assigned tasks with your supervisor in order to observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
- Be part of planning and formulating project schedules for the project’s requirements.
- You will be a key asset in contributing to the group’s business development efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. A Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Structural Engineering is preferred.
- Experience in soil-structure interaction work.
- 4-8 years of experience.
- Professional Engineering License is required.
- 10% travel to local job sites to perform fieldwork.
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Geostudio software suite, Plaxis, SAP2000, Ensoft software suite.
