Senior Database Engineer

Your Opportunity as the Senior Oracle Database Engineer

This position is responsible for assisting with cloud and on-premises database and data warehouse solutions, while implementing and supporting sound database designs, data integrity controls, and security controls. This role will require automation tools and infrastructure as code concepts to be utilized. Under general guidance, this role will assist projects, while supporting Infrastructure solutions that meet business needs. Collaboration with team members on standard administration tasks, such as backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, installation, configuration, monitoring, disaster recovery, meeting performance service level agreements, and effective incident resolution.

Location: Working Remote USA

In This Role You Will

1. Assist in engineering and enhancing cloud and on-premises database solutions to meet business needs, while following industry and company best practices.
2. Assist in the evaluation, proof of concept (POC), and initiatives for cloud technologies and platforms.
3. Leverage infrastructure as code principles and automation of tasks for consistency and repeatability.
4. Collaborate with IS and business to understand data design, governance, flow, and priority.
5. Execution and enforcement of Smucker security, auditing policies, and controls.
6. Collaborate with team members on administration tasks such as backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, installation, configuration, monitoring, disaster recovery, performance service level agreements, and effective incident resolution.
7. Create, maintain, and update strong technical documentation and procedures following IS department standards.
8. Partner with infrastructure, application development, and business teams to use technology to solve business problems, developing and promoting efficiencies and standards.
9. Provide 24x7 production support to meet service level availability agreements.

Minimum Requirements

What we are looking for:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
2. 3+ years of Oracle Database technologies.
3. 1+ years of Cloud technologies experience with knowledge of at least one major cloud provider.
4. Strong knowledge of SQL.
5. Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and scripting (Bash, etc.).
6. Experience with Oracle RAC administration.
7. Basic understanding of automation/scripting tools like Terraform, GIT, Jenkins, Ansible, WLST, and Python/Jython and Infrastructure as code concepts.
8. Basic understanding of engineered platforms (Oracle Exadata/ExaCC).
9. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
10. Drive for continuous learning and flexibility to learn new skills quickly.
11. Ability to work both independently (self-motivated) and collaboratively.
12. Ability to build/maintain strong relationships and effectively partner with peers.
13. Understands and adapts to new or changing situations, requirements, or priorities.
