Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Process Engineer position is designed to provide process, mechanical/chemical engineering support to the daily operations of the plant in order to comply with the goals on production, quality, training, yearly/monthly budget, cost reports, safety, environmental, plant start-up, plant shutdown, normal operation, improvement project/expansion management, while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets all environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Process Improvement: Utilizes recognized statistical process techniques and other measurement tools to develop, maintain and present required reports detailing the effectiveness of existing processes or supporting the need to introduce new processes.
Lead and Facilitate the Fulfillment of Product Delivery and Commitments: By meeting the needs of each sales channel and customer. Anticipate needs, work as a problem solver to eliminate blockages, and enhance the consistent delivery of quality products that exceed customer expectations. Manage, solve, and/or recommend a resolution to discrepancies, deviations, abnormalities, customer complaints, quality, and non-quality-related issues.
Project Management: Assist in implementing areas of improvement that will help the unit achieve Best Industry Practices and correct problem areas. Follow up with projects routinely utilizing best practices, benchmarking, planning, root cause analysis, and any other BACT.
PSM: Assist with elements of process safety and projects such as MOCs, PSI updates, and P&ID modifications. Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices. Provide management and leadership timely and thorough reporting of all incidents to ensure all incidents are investigated properly. Take personal responsibility and ownership for safety, including bringing the attitude that "I am individually responsible for safety" to the job each and every day.
Initiate Action and as the Critical Liaison: To coordinate with multiple internal departments, cross-functional representatives, and key external contacts/decision makers on various decision making processes. Manage, Analyze, Integrate, and Administer Solutions to Improve Efficiency: Gather, compile, analyze, report, and make recommendations with critical impact to sales, marketing, production planning, credit, quality, logistics, and customer service. Comply with company policy/procedures to streamline day-to-day processes, work flow, and related practices.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch the Ground Program and No Visual Pollution Program. Maintain the plants' like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1. Previous Related Experience Required
No prior experience is required but 1 ~ 2 years of experience in a petrochemical refinery environment preferred.
2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
Knowledge of Thermodynamics, Energy & material balance, Unit operations, heat/mass transfer, fluid statics and Dynamic, kinetics, engineering economies.
3. Education
B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or other related engineering fields is required; Graduate degree and/or PHD in Polymer Science is a plus.
4. Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
• Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
• Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan
