SENIOR ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

We are currently seeking a project leader responsible for the technical direction and delivery of electrical design and documentation. The Minneapolis office focuses on the following sectors: Federal, Healthcare, Local Government, and Manufacturing & Distribution. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with Market Sector Leadership to develop and cultivate a network and opportunities in business development and marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Expert in specific electrical requirements for applications in relevant markets, focusing on building systems dedicated to power, lighting, and low voltage.
- Encourages collaboration to seek the best solutions.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
- Ability to lead and mentor designer-level staff on their responsibilities.
- Review and discuss project goals, objectives, design standards, and procedures with Project Managers and Director of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
- Front-end involvement to apply best practices to set the proper direction of the project in SDs and DDs.
- Responsible for applying the firm's risk management practices of project engineering.
- Contributes to revisions of company design standards and master specifications for the discipline.
- Lead and develop a team of specialists, technicians, and engineers assigned to applicable projects to ensure quality assurance, discipline scope, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Provide information for and participate in various pre-design services such as feasibility, site selection, and cost analysis.
- Prepare studies and reports for electrical systems on projects as well as edit and develop basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
- Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
- Prepare code compliance evaluations and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance in relation to zoning laws, fire regulations, building codes, and other ordinances.
- Develop as well as oversee the development of design concepts by designers and technicians to ensure proper application and execution.
- Demonstrate experience in document delivery related to varied approaches such as Design-Bid-Build, fast-track delivery, and Integrated delivery via Design-Build.
- Lead the design team to produce construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
- Proven competency in delivering using Revit and other BIM applications, including work planning activities associated with a BIM-enabled process.
- Report status of design process and cost analysis to Director and Project Manager, evaluating Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects.
- Meet project budgets and schedule objectives while championing a rigorous Quality Management process.
Qualifications:
This position will collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of Architects and Engineers and be responsible for the electrical engineering leadership for multiple projects that may be scheduled concurrently. Background in one or more of our markets will be seen as a plus.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and visually with project team personnel, department personnel, internal office staff, and clientele.
- Ability to successfully and continuously lead a team of engineering professionals to meet and exceed project and department goals.
- Revit MEP proficiency is desired with knowledge of how to leverage other production software focused on BIM.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and electrical design software.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes.
- Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to engage in multiple projects and remain up-to-date on various developmental stages.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain a strong appreciation for a process of quality management.
Education and License Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Registration as an Electrical Engineer.
- The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in the Electrical Engineering field.
- Experience in designing within our markets of Federal, Healthcare, or Industrial is desired.
- Current affiliation and/or membership in local, state, or national industry organization(s) is a plus.
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification is a plus.
- LEED Accredited Professional is a plus.
