Overview
To serve as owner and subject matter expert for an assigned area, delivering a designated service to the organization. To provide a forward-looking industry perspective and be responsible for the product/service's full lifecycle, including definition, execution, and governance. Manage Services of high complexity and low to medium maturity with Service Impact of medium to high breadth and depth. Works independently with no supervision, mentors the API Engineers, and is accountable for the performance results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic plans, organizational priorities, and execution strategy as per division objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic product roadmaps and plans that shape architecture, technical direction, and process to achieve desired business outcomes
  • Applies the division's vision & mission, and governance policies and collects metrics for periodic reporting
  • Guide and analyze benchmarking, trend analysis, and other input to drive continuous improvement and elevate product/service performance
  • Evaluate the performance and trends of assigned services to customers, including defined KPIs and SLAs, and ensure service levels are in line with SLAs and SLOs
  • Establish architecture standards, reference models, patterns, guidelines, and principles
  • Develops workforce strategy and resource plan (skills, competencies, team size)
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members, management/leadership, key stakeholders, and external contacts (vendors, etc.)
  • Provide constructive and actionable feedback to resources, resource managers, and vendor managers to ensure expected performance and satisfy service SLAs
  • Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of API platform engineering; applies industry standards and best practices to align with enterprise strategic goals
  • Provides technical leadership to the API Team, accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams
  • Adapts strategic plans, sets organizational priorities, and allocates resources to execute business plans and ensures timely delivery of APIs, quality of Service, and operational challenges
  • Manage budget, develop resource/cost plans, conduct cost variance analysis, implement variance corrective actions, and ensure SOW completion
  • Ensures compliance with Navy Federal's ISD standards, practices, and processes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related field
  • 8+ years of experience in API Management, Integration Technologies, Open Banking APIs and Financials
  • Applies tact, poise, thoughtfulness, and diplomacy to exchange information and address sensitive issues
  • Ability to negotiate and influence others internally and externally, including TPOs, business leaders, vendors, and senior executives
  • Expert Knowledge of API Management and experience in microservices and event-driven architecture
  • Hands-on experience in API Security and in-depth knowledge of implementing security controls, including OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, etc.
  • Deep technical expertise in Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS); Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Azure Kubernetes Service, and other cloud providers & related technologies
  • Extensive experience in cloud-native architectures and technologies (e.g., Containers, DevSecOps, API Management, B2B, B2C, etc.)
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective skill in presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in API Management, Integration Technologies, Open Banking APIs and Financials
  • Knowledge of NFCU operations, processes and procedures
  • Experience with agile delivery frameworks
  • Advanced knowledge of banking/financial industry standards and practices
  • Experience or knowledge of FDX (Financial Data Exchange)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
