Job Requirements / Description

Contract with potential for direct hireResponsibilities:Equipment & Process DevelopmentEnd-to-end owner that designs, executes, and delivers portions of General Assembly conveyance systems, automation cells, process equipment/tooling, and processesIntegrate new vehicle models and variants into existing facilitiesImplement line re-rate projectsAssist in the development of assembly process flow, build sequence and logistics strategies to optimize for direct labor, quality, safety, and other KPIsManage equipment suppliers/partners during RFQ, design, buy-off, installation, commissioning, and ramp upDevelop and execute equipment qualification plans including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK), and Gage Repeatability / Reproducibility (GR&R)Provide input into the continuous evolution of equipment standardsPartner with Product Design and Operations teams to ensure successful ramp and long-term sustained productionEnsure achievement of safety, quality, cost, timing & performance targetsProvide regular, metric-based project updates to the management team.Challenge assumptions that are not backed up by a thorough engineering evaluationProduct DevelopmentConduct Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) studies and feedback to Product Design teams, drive content reduction and simplificationsProvide input into the continuous evolution of DFMA standardsLead new product virtual builds and participates in early prototype builds to validate manufacturability and processesSupport systems integration and automation – PLM, SAP, MES, etc.Be part of a world-class engineering team, with a focus on high-quality work and rapid project deployment.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field.5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to automated equipment or manufacturing processesExperience optimizing existing processes for rate, yield, availabilityKnowledge of manufacturing and processing principles (cycle time analysis, quality control, equipment efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, error proofing, ergonomics, material logistics)Demonstrated ability to effectively solve difficult technical problems, challenge assumptions, and the status quoAbility to work independentlyCapable of working as a member of a team across several cross-functional disciplines, including with external stakeholders.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Experience working in both 2D & 3D CAD environmentsKnowledge of robot automation cells, conveyance systems & controls automationPreferred Skills:Systems knowledge and experience – PLM, SAP, MESExtensive experience launching new products and production linesExtensive experience in product DFMAExtensive experience in DVACategory ManufacturingFunction EngineeringReq ID JN -102022-118831
