Position Description:

Plans, designs, and executes technical solutions and improvements using object oriented programming Java or C#, Python/R, and RDBMS. Processes and generates analytics from structured and unstructured data sets with the ability of parallel processing potentially in the cloud. Implements Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline creation for applications hosted in Windows and Linux environments and performs maintenance on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. Analyzes and processes large datasets and builds scalable applications and Rapid Prototyping. Develops responsive and progressive web applications using various tools and technologies like Python, Angular 2.0+, MVC frameworks. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) extracting unstructured public data (non-MNPI and non-PII) from public sources using Web Scraping and Web Crawling Techniques across Financial Quant related data sets.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) extracting unstructured public data (non-MNPI and non-PII) from public sources using Web Scraping and Web Crawling Techniques across Financial Quant related data sets.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing Cloud infrastructure components - EMR, EC2, RDS, and Elastic Load Balancer setup - for data analysis, reporting, and consumption on Cloud, using AWS, AWS Lambda server-less computing, Cloud formation, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) tools - Chef and Jenkins.
  • DE building architecture design using Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, and Visual Paradigm; and developing complex solutions for applications, data storage, data warehousing information barriers, and data protection for complex data structures using Snowflake, Informatica, Oracle, and Oracle Tools.
  • DE coordinating an application engineering team in an Agile environment using JIRA; and building REST-based microservices, using Spring MVC, JDBC, Mybatis frameworks, Java, and Scala, to develop complex distributed software systems and compliance monitoring applications to perform complex real time calculations.
  • DE performing data and runtime profiling, using scikit-learn, NumPy, and pandas, cprofiler or Valgrind, SHAP or LIME, and Facebook Prophet, Google What-If, or IBM AIF360 to detect financial data seasonality, cycles, trends, AI fairness evaluations, and bias mitigations; and detecting data anomalies, using machine learning and artificial intelligence time series algorithms.
