JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer - Machinery

Responsibilities
- Responsible for design, specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems.
- Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.
- Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
- Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
Job Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field
- Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or willingness to obtain
- Experience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and gas projects, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia, ethylene, refining and offshore facilities.
- Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a plus
- Engineering contractor experience
- Knowledgeable with analysis of fluid/thermal systems
- In-depth understanding of machine design and application
- Familiarity with rotor dynamic principles and analysis
- Ability to provide technical guidance for designers and drafters.
- Working knowledge of current API standards for rotating equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, and auxiliary systems.
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally is a plus
