Systems Engineer


Position Description

CGI Federal is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our program in the metro Washington DC area. This position requires an Active TS/SCI with a CI Poly.

This position is located in Washington, DC.


Your future duties and responsibilities:

  1. Analyze user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  2. Analyze system requirements and lead design and development activities.
  3. Guide users in formulating requirements, advise alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.
  4. Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
  5. Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
  6. Develop system architecture and system design documentation.
  7. Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  8. Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
  9. Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
  10. Communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
  11. Apply Standard Characteristics of Labor Category Capability Levels.
  12. Responsible for managing very complex and/or high-risk programs and shall not serve in any other capability. Supervise assigned technical staff, including subordinate managers.
  13. Establish state-of-the-art techniques for designing, developing, modifying, and troubleshooting highly complex computer operating hardware systems.
  14. Design operating/hardware systems; formulate system concepts and architecture, specific requirements, and develop implementation approaches.
  15. Identify and direct resolution of complex hardware/software interface issues; serve as a subject matter expert on emerging technologies; direct the development of systems specifications and technical documentation.
  16. Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  1. TS/SCI w CI Polygraph required.
  2. Experience with Linux Systems, including Red Hat or CentOS Systems Administration, in an engineering capacity.
  3. 5+ years of experience with Cross Domain Solutions, including Forcepoint High Speed Guards, OWL Diodes, Radiant Mercury, or ISSE Guards.
  4. Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 Level II Compliance certification within 60 days of hire date.
  5. Experience with VMWare ESXi, vSphere, or vRealize Operations.
  6. Experience with creating tailored Linux Operating systems through Kickstart or PXE.
  7. Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, including Chef, Terraform, Ansible, or SaltStack.
