Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with more than 4,000 lawyers and staff in 30 offices is seeking a Data Engineer, Data Science to work closely with the team to construct and maintain technical platforms that efficiently collect, manage, and transform raw case data into actionable insights for legal teams and business analysts.
Reporting to the Director of Data Science, the Data Engineer will design, develop, and manage data pipelines, databases, and data warehouses. The Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data, while also contributing to the implementation of data governance policies. Additionally, the Data Engineer will support the seamless integration of data analytics and machine learning models into the firm's systems. Strong programming skills, expertise in data modeling, and experience with ETL processes are critical for this role.
Primary Responsibilities Include
- Designs and develops technical platforms that collect, manage, and convert raw case data into usable information for legal teams and business analysts.
- Constructs and maintains data pipelines, databases, and data warehouses to ensure efficient and accurate data processing and storage.
- Ensures data quality and integrity by collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish and implement data governance policies and procedures.
- Supports the integration of data analytics and machine learning models into the firm's systems, enabling advanced data analysis and insights.
- Optimizes and fine-tunes data infrastructure and processes to enhance performance and scalability.
- Troubleshoots and resolves data-related issues and provides technical support to users.
- Stays up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and techniques in data engineering and applies them incrementally to improve data processing and analysis capabilities.
- Collaborates with data scientists, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Performs data transformations, aggregations, and manipulations to meet specific reporting and analysis needs.
- Ensures compliance with data privacy and security regulations, implementing necessary safeguards to protect sensitive information.
Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field and minimum of 5 years of data engineering experience.
- Strong programming skills (Python) and high proficiency with relational databases (SQL).
- In-depth understanding of data modeling concepts and experience with data modeling tools.
- Proficiency in SQL Server, Python, Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
