What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming's Facilities Division is seeking Electrical Designer/Project Designer to work for our Western Region Group in Los Angeles, CA . Our preference is for someone to be near our Los Angeles, CA office but since this can be fully remote, anywhere in the western region is acceptable. Join our Journey!

The Facilities Business Line provides building-focused engineering services to a variety of commercial, educational, medical, municipal, industrial, water/wastewater, and institutional clients. We provide analysis, evaluation, plans, and design for facility projects that involve remodel, expansion, new construction, and upgrades. In addition, our team provides design services in mechanical/HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical/lighting, security, data and voice communications, energy management, audio visual, civil/utility, site development, and architectural disciplines.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading the preparation of electrical design documents, system calculations, lighting and power design, and coordination with other trades for electrical power distribution and related systems. You will work directly under the supervision of senior-level staff or work independently. You will directly generate drawings, designs, and calculations using industry-accepted tools.

Our team works on small and large projects. The size of projects varies from providing minor engineering for small tenant improvements to large power and lighting design for maintenance facilities, ground-up buildings, and office spaces. We work for clients in higher education, utilities providers, hospitals, transportation, and public works.

This position is partially work from home with travel required based on project requirements to do field assessments and attend meetings in person when requested. You may be required to be in the office on a case-by-case basis which may include but is not limited to orientation (option is available for remote orientation), required team meetings, background checks, or any other cases that require physical presence in the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate electrical plans including power and lighting.
  • Generate photometric analysis.
  • Perform site surveys for collecting information needed to develop electrical design.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, select, and size equipment.
  • Coordinate power requirements with mechanical, architectural, plumbing, and other trades.
  • Work on multiple projects independently as well as under supervision.
  • Check quality of work and maintain good quality of drawings in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements of the company (training will be provided).
  • Communicate with clients on a regular basis for day-to-day coordination and design progress.

Education | Experience:

  • 5+ years of electrical design experience for building electrical systems.
  • At least 3 years of REVIT experience in generating electrical drawings from inception to completion.
  • At least 1 year of experience with EnergyPro's latest version.
  • Experienced in generating single line diagrams, panel schedules, power distribution, and lighting distribution.
  • Understanding of working electrical code.
  • Work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Technology savvy to use Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook regularly.
  • Strong efficiency with REVIT. Able to generate, draft, print, and quality check electrical drawings.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work with supervision from senior engineers and independently on less complex projects.
  • Ability to independently quality check your own work while following industry and company standards.
  • Fast learner of new engineering technology and drafting techniques.
  • Experience with power system analysis software ETAP, SKM is a plus.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, engineering technology, or drafting is a plus.
  • 20% travel required.
  • Remote - Hybrid Schedule.
