T-Rex Solutions is seeking a qualified Test Engineer to support a new initiative with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to modernize legacy software and applications that provide immigration status, criminal history, and real-time assistance to federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement that require assistance with carrying out their missions. This is an agile software development and support services program supporting mission-critical work for DHS.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement efficient and effective testing strategies, test conditions and test scripts for projects.
  2. Define clear expectations for all testing tasks, including inputs and outputs.
  3. Implement test tools such as Selenium, Katalon Studio Automation, Groovy, and JavaScript to support automation and performance testing.
  4. Ensure appropriate testing coverage and requirements traceability through the creation, implementation and enhancement of comprehensive test plans, test cases/user stories, test steps and test automation.
  5. Use the command line terminal like Git CMD and defect tracking systems such as Jira.
  6. Utilize developer tools like Visual Studio Code and IDEs.
  7. Utilize Chrome developer tools to analyze the content/resources of a webpage.
  8. Develop and execute test plans, test cases, scripts, and create test data for Agile Software Development team; including functional, integration, regression, data integrity and stress testing as well as assisting with user acceptance.
  9. Identify gaps and deficiencies in business requirements, technical specifications, designs and testing documentation for completeness and testability.
  10. Track defects and report key metrics for proactively identifying areas for improvement.
  11. Coordinate the setup of test environments for all planned test execution activities.
  12. Decompose requirements into detailed test cases for functional and regression test execution.

Requirements:
  1. Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment.
  2. Quality Assurance Institute (QAI) Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE) certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  3. Katalon Practitioner certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  4. Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  5. Experience managing both manual and automated test teams, including setting goals and objectives, assigning tasks, and providing status reports.
  6. Experience with creating a centralized test management system to track test progress and results.
  7. Understanding of software testing types and methods to support Agile Software Development.
  8. Technical proficiency with SQL including the ability to create queries to validate data integrity and other data constraints.
  9. Experience with all aspects of configuration management planning including configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, configuration audits, configuration documentation.
  10. Proven ability to identify resource constraints and other potential schedule issues and risks.
  11. Experience implementing testing and configuration management methodologies to support continuous integration.

Desired Skills:
  1. Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Information Technology or a related field.

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $150,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. T-Rex considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
