Authority Partners is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing team! The Quality Assurance Engineer will work as part of a passionate agile project team to ensure quality is driven into the heart of the development process. This Engineer will be involved throughout the development lifecycle with responsibility for the quality assurance of software development and deployment, with emphasis on the development and implementation of test automation. Note: This position is on-site in downtown Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing both business and technical requirements for software applications to ensure that they are clear, complete, and testable
  • Gaining expert-level knowledge of business processes and supporting applications
  • Being responsible for test planning for new and existing software applications
  • Covering all types of testing needed to ensure a high-quality application, including but not limited to feature/functionality, deployment and configuration, performance, integration and usability
  • Tracking coverage, progress and result of testing in software application lifecycle management tool
  • Developing and supporting harnesses enabling rapid, repeatable, and reportable test execution
  • Automating test scenarios with goals to reduce the time and cost of testing over the lifecycle of the application, and to improve test coverage/depth
  • Tracking quality of application (readiness for release) by working directly with the development team to ensure that issues are found/fixed in an expedited manner.
  • Tracking files and tracking software defects in software application lifecycle management tool
  • Ensuring that standards for development and quality are defined and tracked accordingly
  • Monitoring software quality issues that are detected after release, triage issues, and work with the development team to expedite fixes
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management in support of the Enterprise’s ability to deliver and maintain high-quality applications

Work experience:

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing testing efforts for large enterprise/IT projects across multiple teams
  • Working knowledge and experience with runtime memory analysis and code profiling tools (desired)
  • Strong general IT application and networking knowledge, including load balancing, networking, active directory, .net applications, messaging middleware, and virtualization technologies such as VMWare vSphere.
  • Basic SQL experience, ability to create complex queries to analyze data; backup and restore data, model and create or alter data as needed to support testing scenarios.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to convey complex ideas verbally and in writing face means, to work with developers, DBAs, and business analysts to drive quality and ensure that we are efficiently building and releasing software applications.
  • Strong stance for quality, able to convey details of, impact and exposure of software quality issues to development teams and leaders.
  • Development background with 4+ years of programming or test automation development experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited university in Computer Science, CIS/MIS, or equivalent experience.
