S. in Environmental Engineering with a Water Resources emphasis. B. S. degree must be from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Passed Part I (Fundamentals of Engineering) State of Michigan Professional Engineering Exam is preferred. Employee must be certified as County Soil Erosion Enforcement Agent within one (1) year of employment. Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.*JOB SUMMARY: * Performs responsible and technical engineering work in the Drain Commissioner's Office, Surface Water Management Division; including design and construction of drainage and storm water management systems and other utilities including interpreting plans and specifications, inspections, and related engineering activities; works under the supervision of the Director; performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:Consults with contractors, consultants and staff during project designs and construction and acts as an inspector during construction projects;Evaluates and makes reports on existing conditions on construction projects and related facilities;Carries out preliminary studies;Investigates and addresses drainage problems of a non-engineering nature.ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Good knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering;Good knowledge of design and construction of storm drain projects;Knowledge of soil erosion;Good knowledge of and skill in making difficult engineering and structural computations;Ability to perform research and give reliable advice on difficult engineering problems;Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions;Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions.Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.KEEP UP-TO-DATE Follow Genesee County Human Resources and Labor Relations on Fac
