In this role, the Senior Airfield Designer will support aviation civil engineering projects at general aviation, commercial and military airfields with a focus on quality, and perform in a team environment. This role supports our growing U.S. West aviation practice. Such projects include, but are not limited to airport terminal projects, airfield improvements, land/site development, and other transportation tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning, design, and construction of aviation projects.
- Lead tasks and aspects of aviation projects, including client interface, subconsultants, constructors, and other outside agencies as needed.
- Conceptualize the initial design approach for airfield improvements, gate and related projects and continue through the design phase as part of a design team.
- Support terminal and airside planning and design tasks.
- Use AviPlan, AutoCAD, Civil3D and civil engineering theories, concepts and practices and coordinate tasks with other team members.
- Support and consult with project manager and design team on unusual problems and developments and manage change.
- Participate in contract bidding and administration; observe project action on site and support construction management related tasks.
- Collaborate with a group of passionate engineers, designers, technicians, and planners to provide engineering services to airports across the country including small general aviation airports, large international commercial airports, and military bases.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates Degree in CAD/Architectural Drafting from an accredited technical institute (or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 years of aviation experience with demonstrated technical design & construction expertise including preparation of construction documents, using FAA, UFC, or ICAO criteria.
- Ability to prepare airfield layouts, applying necessary criteria and airline standards.
- Experience with Passenger Boarding Bridges, walkways and Baggage Handling Systems.
- Understand Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and fueling criteria for laying out gates.
- Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing.
- Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork.
- Proficiency in AviPLAN, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Experience in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
- Be a self-starter and responsible for quality work products, delegating tasks, bringing ideas to our project teams and striving for your own professional growth.
- Possess time management, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks accurately and on time.
