Mid-Level Software Engineer

Qualis LLC is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Qualis Software Engineering Directorate (QSED). As a QSED Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing innovative software solutions to address a variety of problem-sets. You will work closely with a team of experienced multi-disciplinary engineers and subject matter experts to deliver exceptional software engineering services and solutions.

Essential Functions:

1. Develop and maintain software in a process mature DevSecOps and Agile environment using C, C++, C#, and other programming languages, as required.
2. Conduct independent research and rapid prototyping for various software projects, with a focus on hardware automation, performance optimization, and complex problem solving.
3. Perform laboratory system and integration testing of software builds, prototypes, and experiments.
4. Participate in cross-team communication and collaboration for requirements gathering and clarification, testing, validation, and other software consulting.
5. Perform Linux system administration and cybersecurity support for engineering assets and high-performance computing environments.
6. Participate in code reviews with a focus on ensuring secure coding practices and overall code quality.
7. Contribute to the continual maturation of QSED infrastructure and processes.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
2. 3 – 5 years of Software Engineering experience with at least 2 years focused on low-level development.
3. Strong proficiency in C and/or C++.
4. Demonstrated experience with C# and .NET languages or Java.
5. Demonstrated experience developing software in Linux-based environments.
6. Willing and able to learn new methods, technologies, and concepts.
7. Willing and able to support the maturing of our Agile and DevSecOps practices and environments.
8. Able to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
9. Hands-on experience with Linux system administration.
10. Candidate must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain an active Top-Secret clearance.
11. Located in or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL (or surrounding areas).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Active DoD Security Clearance.
2. Hands-on experience with embedded software/firmware development.
3. Familiarity with RTOS or embedded Linux environments.
4. Experience with developing in a DevSecOps environment.
5. Experience developing in an Agile environment.
6. Experience developing in a process mature environment.
