The CNC Lathe Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts for aerospace and defense applications. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup:
- Set up CNC lathe machines according to specifications and blueprints.
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine controls.
- Perform first-piece inspections to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Operate CNC lathe machines to produce parts as per production schedules.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues promptly.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Ensure parts meet all specifications and quality standards.
- Document inspection results and maintain records.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical certification in CNC machining or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC lathe setup and operation.
- Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine controls.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
