Position Summary

Dimensional Management (DM) is the development of quality products by understanding and controlling part and process variation. Dimensional Engineers support product development by coaching the DM process and by applying advanced tools to analyze designs and provide recommendations to achieve targets. Kenworth is looking for a Dimensional Management and Simulation Supervisor to lead a dynamic team of dimensional, stress, and NVH engineers at our offices in Kirkland, WA.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Supervise a cross-functional team of Dimensional, Structural Analysis, and Noise/Vibration/Harshness Engineers to ensure proper tool use and analysis interpretation.
  2. Lead the organization to utilize and achieve the benefits of Dimensional Management and simulation.
  3. Manage and execute team priorities in coordination with division goals.
  4. Lead the development of dimensional Design Objectives to define project fit/finish and functional requirements.
  5. Promote/teach Dimensional Management tools and processes to internal project teams and cross-divisional organizations.
  6. Lead Six Sigma, warranty reduction, and quality improvement projects.
  7. Develop and coordinate measurement systems for activities from benchmarking through new product validation.
  8. Promote proper Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing requirements per the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 standard.
  9. Perform dimensional analysis on assemblies using statistical tolerance stacks and 3-Dimensional tolerance analysis simulation. Interpret data and provide recommendations.
  10. Promote and coordinate the use of process controls and continuous improvement for plants and suppliers.
  11. Present and deliver findings throughout the organization (engineering and management).

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Bachelor of Science in engineering or closely related field.
  2. 5+ years of engineering experience with a thorough understanding of Dimensional Management, preferably in the automotive and/or trucking industry required.
  3. Ability to handle multiple tasks, take initiative, be a team player and problem solver, and demonstrate professional and effective communication skills.
  4. Previous supervisory experience.
  5. Graduate of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma Black Belt program.
  6. Experience in measurement systems analysis, Statistical Process Control, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  7. Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes, production assembly fixtures, and inspection equipment.
  8. Teaching/coaching experience with a technical topic.
  9. Familiarity with structural analysis (FEA) and Noise/Vibration/Harshness (NVH) simulation methods.

Additional Job Board Information

The salary range for the Engineering Supervisor - Dimensional Management is $110,600 - $173,000 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
