All engineers and researchers are expected to have strong communication skills. They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.
xAI does not have recruiters. Every application is reviewed directly by a technical member of the team.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the procurement, deployment, maintenance, and support of business applications to ensure they align with xAI's operational and strategic goals.
• Administer and optimize tools like Okta, Rippling, GSuite, Notion, various cloud services, and Slack to enhance productivity and collaboration across global teams.
• Ensure robust, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure. Manage employee laptops, focusing on top-notch security measures, and implement IT and InfoSec policies to safeguard xAI's information assets.
• Streamline the processes for onboarding new employees and offboarding departing ones, ensuring efficient handling of IT resources and access rights.
• Maintain excellent network connectivity in all offices for seamless work environments and uninterrupted virtual meetings.
• Work closely with InfoSec, Supercomputing, Leadership, and Networking teams to ensure integrated IT solutions that support xAI's mission to advance human scientific discovery.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• You've been the first or early IT hire in a previous role, adept at wearing multiple hats, from hands-on troubleshooting to strategic planning.
• Experience in scaling IT operations from the ground up is highly desirable
• Deep knowledge of enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and IT operations. Familiarity with managing cloud environments, SaaS applications, and endpoint security.
• Proven track record of building and leading IT teams, knowing when to contract external expertise versus hiring full-time staff.
• Exceptional at diagnosing issues, implementing solutions quickly, and preempting future IT challenges with innovative thinking.
• Experience in managing cross-functional projects, ensuring IT initiatives support business objectives and are delivered on time and within budget.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with various departments globally and convey complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Annual Salary Range: $104,000 to $156,000
