Job Responsibilities
Pennoni is currently looking for a Graduate Bridge Engineer with experience consistent, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with the structural analysis and/or design of Bridges (Highway and Railroad), Culverts, Retaining Walls, and Overhead Sign Structures on various bridge replacement/rehabilitation projects, highway improvement projects and multi-disciplinary projects for PENNDOT and other agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region
  • Performing NBIS Bridge inspections in Philadelphia and the surrounding states with occasional opportunities for domestic travel
  • Producing high quality technical writing for use in bridge inspection reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents
Required Attributes:
  • Basic knowledge of Civil Engineering principles such as structural analysis, steel/concrete design, basic hydrology/hydraulics, and basic geotechnical/foundation design
  • General knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD with experience with plan production preferred
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills while simultaneously looking for and seizing opportunities to improve work products
  • Leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and written skills
  • Working in a team environment under the supervision and mentorship of Senior Engineers
  • Working on multiple assignments concurrently with varying complexity and differing job responsibilities
Preferred Attributes:
  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering
  • Successful completion of FHWA-NHI-13005 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges)
  • Prior bridge engineering experience with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, and/or PennDOT
  • Knowledge and experience with structural analysis software such as STAAD, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, BRASS, etc
  • Prior experience with BrIM or BIM work processes and/or modeling
  • Produces high quality technical writing for use in bridge inspection reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent assignments within a team environment.
  • Interacting in the engineering community via leadership positions in professional societies is preferred and encouraged.
