The Project Engineer will have responsibility for managing a variety of projects - Primarily large, multi-faceted projects ($50k-$20MM) that will require coordination and influence across several business functions (sales, marketing, packaging engineering, materials, quality, operations, maintenance, finance directors, plant managers, and the Director/VP level) stakeholders. The project engineer will drive engineering standards creation and implementation at the FMC. The position will also manage projects ranging from smaller sub process projects with multiple installations, medium projects consisting of multiple process replacements or additions, handling all facets of the project. Additionally, this role will provide technical and management assistance to the Maintenance Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define project opportunities, define the scope of the projects, develop costs and schedules, produce a request for project funds and gain approval, develop project documentation and training materials, and implement the approved project.
  • Leads other engineers and other managers, as a project manager.
  • Leads external project managers and project engineers to accomplish large projects.
  • Communicating the progress of the project to leadership, senior leadership, and peers on project status.
  • Conduct a post project review, and audit (where appropriate) would be conducted to measure results, and document learning's that would be beneficial for work.
  • Managing budget and schedule - to keep project on track with active monitoring and course-correcting.
  • Developing and implementing (coaching use of) standards in engineering processes and specification standards.
  • Support Maintenance and Engineering departments in planning and execution of outages.
  • Assist Plant Engineering Manager in management of departmental activities including budgeting and direction of McCormick employees and contracted services.
  • Develops processes and protocols in order to eliminate losses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of utilities and equipment processes used in manufacturing plants
  • Experience in technical surveillance and operation of packaging and processing equipment. Ability to gather relevant data and analyze to draw trends and mitigation plans
  • Self-starting, able to conceptualize and initiate technical and commercial ideas and turn into viable engineering projects
  • Experience developing budgets and financial plans
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs and PFDs
  • Understanding of basic instrumentation principles. Ability to operate HMIs
  • Familiarity with processing equipment and component failure modes – blenders, bulk transfer systems, automated packaging and palletizing robots, bearings, motors, rotary valves, conveyors etc.
  • Experience moving or closing facilities, or acquisition experience
  • Experience leading operations or maintenance departments
  • Position requires strong influence and innovation
  • Candidate must possess a persuasive presentation style that can sell business strategies to executives. 
  • Holds team members accountable and manages through influence. 
  • Creates very detailed project plans. 
  • Sets and delivers against clear expectations. 
  • BSC in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and AutoCAD, SAP experience preferred
