At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security and human spaceflight.
As part of the Blue Engines Systems Engineering Tools (BESET) team, a small and passionate team which leads the implementation of systems engineering processes in COTS applications (aka tools), you will assess and establish the best approach to incorporate model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices among the existing Engines Business Unit policies, processes and tools. In this position, you will collaborate with tool administrators and program representatives on our team, process owners in the systems engineering and cross-functional organizations outside our team, and tool administrators and developers at the business unit and company level. The primary goal is to facilitate cost-savings, efficiency, and technical excellence in the development, certification, and maintenance of multiple world-class engines. In that way, this position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Your ability to identify and implement best practices, problem-solve efficiently, and communicate effectively with both users and leadership will be critical to our success. In addition to expertise in the COTS applications/tools we use, we are seeking an individual with a strong background in the fundamentals of systems engineering and model-based approaches, experience in the verification of hardware and software systems in the aerospace industry, and excellent analytical and interpersonal skills who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Specifically, work with Engines avionics teams to implement requirements and verification data management solutions which support their qualification requirements.
- Lead collaboration with cross-functional organizations to assess business unit culture and processes for easy-entry points for MBSE practices; develop and implement near- and long-term MBSE strategies for the Engines Business Unit.
- Facilitate cross-functional business unit and enterprise-level organizations (e.g. IT) in the integration of Jama, Jira, Windchill, Gitlab and other applications as necessary.
- Collaborate with team and cross-functional organizations to establish solid systems engineering processes necessary to support any evolving integrations and implementations.
- Support team in general development and improvement of program metrics and report-generation, streamlined methods for user access, training programs, communications schemes, tool requirement definition, verification, and trade study, and overall team growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Systems Engineering or related technical field
- 10+ years of experience working in a highly regulated environment (aerospace, nuclear, government, medical device, etc.)
- 5+ years of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) experience
- Expertise with the following applications: Cameo (or equivalent), Jama, JIRA, Gitlab
- Working knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data management tools (e.g. Windchill)
- Working knowledge of configuration management principles and practices
- Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
