ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Controls and Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on Inhalation and Transdermal Drug Delivery Manufacturing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in Controls and Automation department, supporting high-speed automation lines, ensuring efficient production processes, contributing to the success of capital projects and improvements to existing manufacturing lines.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As an Automation Engineer working with the Controls and Automation department, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge PLC-based Controls and Automation systems.
  • Your role is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our TDD/IDD manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams in troubleshooting and debugging PLC programs for timely issue resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop automation strategies for optimizing manufacturing processes.
  • Diagnose and communicate problems, root causes, and short/long term solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and make repairs or adjustments to automated equipment.
  • Stay updated on PLC technology trends, proposing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited University.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing high-speed automation/equipment design or maintenance and troubleshooting in a regulated industry.
  • Proven experience in PLC programming and control system design in industrial automation.
  • Experience with Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence) programming and troubleshooting.
  • Solve complex automation issues by designing, testing, installing, and integrating software solutions related to custom automation, machine vision, feedback systems, robotics, data collection, and management.
  • Strong PLC/PAC/HMI/Networking programming knowledge utilizing Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Studio ME/SE, RSNetworx, Ethernet/IP, and Motion control systems programming (Kinetix/PowerFlex drives).
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics/wiring drawings using AutoCAD or any related software.
  • Troubleshooting knowledge of electrical instruments like Flow Meters, RTDs, and Transducers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written & oral.
  • Extensive experience in implementing process improvements on high-speed automated manufacturing equipment to drive operating efficiencies.
  • Follow all standard work procedures, safety regulations, and policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Implement long-term corrective actions to avoid repeat issues.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical support.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with effective communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry and background in process automation.
  • Prior experience in New Product Introduction activities.
  • Experience in programming C, C++, Python.
  • Experience or knowledge of 21 CFR -Parts 210 and 211 (FDA).
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical manufacturing Coating, converting, Cartoning, and Packaging Equipment.
  • Experience of Pharmaceutical Serialization.
  • Experience or Knowledge of Optel Serialization systems.
  • Experience in CAD software like Solidworks. Hands-on experience or knowledge of Machine shop equipment, Mill, and Lathe.
