Bastian Solutions is currently looking for college engineering students for an opportunity to work hands-on with live projects in paving how automation is shaping the way the world does business. Our internship will take you to various locations around the US to observe and then work on automation solutions. We are looking for creative and hard-working engineers to join the fun in shaping automation. This will be for the 2025 summer that will start either in May/June.
Job Summary
A Controls Engineering Intern is responsible for all phases of engineering within Bastian Solutions. The duties include designing, programming, testing, and commissioning. The Controls Engineering Intern will work closely with the Controls Lead and Controls Engineers to support the team in the overall project objectives.
Job Functions
- Work closely with controls engineers to understand the design and coding requirements.
- Work with engineers on how to create electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Maintain a consistently positive, enthusiastic attitude!
- Complete all administrative tasks/paperwork in a timely manner.
- Work well with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to work with PLC (had a class or previous internship working with PLCs).
- A basic understanding of programming.
- Energetic, ambitious, and hard-working.
- Highly organized with strong communication skills.
Travel Requirements
- Able to travel 80-90% during the summer. All travel will be covered by our Controls division.
- Preferred locations are Indianapolis or St. Louis but will consider other locations in the US near a major airport.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or computer engineering. GPA of 3.0 or better is encouraged to apply.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Strong programming skills (preferred PLC/ladder logic experience).
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long-term without sponsorship.
