Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director, Data Science, you will advance the company’s data science platform by leveraging the latest deep learning tech stacks, surveying the discoveries in the deep learning field, and applying these insights to enhance current modeling efforts to unlock new functionality from our experimental data.
Your primary responsibility is to ensure Evozyne’s deep learning platform incorporates the latest software and modeling techniques in the field. You’ll survey the literature and coordinate with data science and project teams to identify critical insights and unmet needs and implement and validate features to address these issues. You’ll also collaborate with NVIDIA developers to access cutting-edge models and incorporate them into Evozyne’s software stack.
Location : This is a hybrid role working onsite at our Chicago office 3-4 days per w eek.
What You'll Do
- Incorporate new modeling capabilities into the company’s production ML environment alongside the software engineering team.
- Develop deep learning software to produce generative, extrapolative models used across the organization.
- Augment current modeling capacities by applying the latest insights in the deep learning field to current design challenges.
- Conduct surveys of the deep learning field, maintaining a development roadmap that balances project impact versus implementation challenge and performance.
- Determine how to best incorporate complex software tech stacks from NVIDIA to develop custom deep learning pipelines and models.
- Prioritize crucial analytical assessment approaches to quantify model performance and generative capacity.
- Coordinate with project groups to ensure the existing deep learning software platform is meeting both current needs and future project development.

Required Skills
- Expertise in developing models using machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Direct experience developing software for a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, or in an HPC environment.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to understand current issues, identify and stratify solutions, and produce a production timeline to address them.
- Proven success in actively exploring advancements in the deep learning field and applying insights from a deep learning publication and/or fine-tuning HuggingFace models for internal/personal use.
Education
- PhD in a relevant scientific/or technical discipline with 3+ years ML engineering experience in deep learning platforms or master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
Preferred Skills
- Development experience in Transformer-based architectures.
- Knowledge of fundamental molecular biology principles.
