We are currently seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to support Ongoing transmission studies for generation interconnections along with load flow and grid stability.


Position responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Serve as the regional Planning engineer
  • Provide guidance to developers by helping them navigate the Transmission network to identify system capacity and optimal locations to Interconnect projects;
  • Ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work activities.
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Evaluate utility impact studies with the ability to challenge study methodology where appropriate;
  • Assist project developers in the evaluation of potential Project sites to determine project feasibility and potential network upgrades and cost;
  • Well-organized self-starter with a genuine drive for success and executing on both short- and longer-term strategic goals;
  • Exhibit knowledge and understanding of T&D protective relay schemes.



Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of Power Engineering Experience with the desired specialty in Transmission Planning;
  • In-depth knowledge of CERC processes - Generation interconnect
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant study; MS preferred;
  • Strong understanding of Transmission System impacts associated with the interconnection of distributed energy resources (DER), as well as knowledge of engineering solutions to mitigate those issues;
  • Ability to successfully lead strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and challenging team-based multi-stakeholder environment;
  • Experience with power systems modeling software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, SKM/ETAP, Aspen, etc.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Transient stability assessment
  • EMT studies / Specialty Studies
  • Well Versed in PSLF software
  • 10-15 years of dedicated experience in Transmission Planning



Education and Certifications / Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering - Electrical Engineer preferred.
  • A registered Professional Engineering(PE) license is desired
