Department Summary:

Do you want to work on behalf of the public good? The MITRE Business Process Innovation department may be for you! Our department is a part of MITRE’s Enterprise Strategy and Transformation (ES&T) Innovation Center. We offer process engineering and business innovation knowledge and capabilities across the MITRE enterprise to enhance effectiveness and sustain transformational impact for our government sponsors. The ES&T Innovation Center is a growing team of approximately 200 professionals collaborating to drive targeted and enduring change within an enterprise; work with sponsor leaders to reimagine and solve complex problems while anticipating future challenges or opportunities; and guide sponsor improvements to processes, strategies, technologies, and organizational systems.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or contribute to tasks and projects to apply business process, business architecture, intelligent process automation, and process improvement methods to help solve complex sponsor problems, improve operations, increase capacity, align sponsor capabilities and processes with mission outcomes, and achieve strategic intent.
- Build capabilities, coordinate and collaborate with multi-discipline teams; provide strategic oversight, system planning/road mapping, and technical leadership; and work directly with senior government leadership.
- Create and present reusable approaches for application on future sponsor projects to aid in the speed of delivery of sponsor impact.
- Shape new department work opportunities that lead to meaningful outcomes for our sponsors, such as contributing to Statements of Work or defining approaches to work.
- Mentor and develop staff in the application of process improvement tools, methods, and frameworks in the enterprise transformation space.
- Build professional prominence for MITRE in the areas of business process, business process reengineering, intelligent automation, and other related capabilities.
- Contribute to corporate, innovation center, and department initiatives and priorities that advance business goals and/or drive MITRE’s award-winning culture.
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in local, state, or federal government client-facing advisory role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology Management, Business, or other related disciplines.
- Subject-matter expertise with the Department of Defense, federal law enforcement, intelligence community, or other relevant deep subject-matter expertise.
- Documented success with process modeling, business architecture modeling, design thinking, journey mapping, stakeholder interviews, or other core process engineering related capabilities.
- Experience leading small teams.
- Experience in project-based work.
- Must be a US citizen capable of holding current / active US Government security clearance(s).
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Engineering Management, Technology Management, Engineering, Management Sciences, Business Innovation, Business Administration, or other related disciplines.
- Lean Six Sigma, Certified Business Analysis Professional, and/or other process related credentials.
- Experience as a thought leader regarding business process innovation or enterprise transformation, such as speaking at conferences, leadership position in professional organization, publishing in professional journals, and/or teaching.
- Experience engaging with and delivering work products to senior executives.
- Preference given to candidates holding current / active TS/SCI security clearance(s).
