Chief Engineer Position Overview:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring proper operations, maintenance, service, and repair of all equipment while supporting the hotel goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability. They are also responsible for overseeing and participating in the Preventative Maintenance program, ensuring that all rooms and public spaces meet Hilton Hospitality standards.

The Chief Engineer will conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C. systems, and any other related equipment.
The Chief Engineer will inform the Regional Director of Engineering, General Manager, and hotel department heads regularly regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment, offering prudent and cost-effective proposals for maintaining them. They will access and input information into a computer and generate reports.
The Chief Engineer will assist the Regional Director of Engineering with preparing all utility, Capital Projects, and R&M budgets. They will adhere to all corporate required purchasing policies and controls, which includes all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. They will monitor and control the monthly expenditures, including but not limited to payroll.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
- Two to four years’ experience as a journey mechanic or engineer with a class.
- A hotel company or related industry. Two years’ experience as a lead engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer in the same or similar environment.
- RI or Regional experience preferred.
Licenses or certificates:
- Any licenses or permits that may be required by law or company regulations, such as an Electrician's license.
Other:
- Experience with opening new hotels or extensive renovation projects.
- Understand basic blueprints.
- Certifications a plus.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
