Job Summary
The Convergent Systems Research Department is a team of engineers, specialists, and technicians who work collaboratively across the EIT intellectual ecosystem to solve pressing challenges in biomedicine. Our responsibilities span all stages of engineering design including ideation, prototyping and validation, and establishing SOP's.
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating automated instrumentation and prototypes and the associated data analysis processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize system utility for the unique healthcare environment.
Job Accountabilities:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for performing the following job duties:
Required Education: Bachelors degree in a field of engineering or related field
Required Experience: 1-3 yrs
Required Field of Expertise:
Preferred Experience : 3-5 yrs

Salary: $96,186 - $121,517

The Automation Engineer is responsible for performing the following job duties:
- Develop modular, reusable test and automation software in Python and similar languages for manufacturing and engineering design verification
- Write automation software to control hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems
- Develop software that allows for test execution across multiple environments: hardware-in-the-loop (HITL, HIL) and virtualized hardware simulations
- Develop, design, and construct custom automation solutions to biomedical engineering challenges using a combination of embedded electronics, photonics, and innovative hardware
- Prepare documentation following Good Laboratory Practices, including supporting versioning and preparing detailed technical drawings, and write SOPs for operation
- Define and implement project plans and manage milestones to assure reliable systems are delivered
- Invent tools that enable more frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and develop innovative solutions
- Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve automation issues
Required Education: Bachelors degree in a field of engineering or related field
Required Experience: 1-3 yrs
Required Field of Expertise:
- Strong project management and technical communication skills
- Experience with data acquisition hardware and software in hands-on testing environments
- Experience with control feedback loop design and implementation
- Experience with numerical analysis techniques and signal processing in multiple domains
- Extensive knowledge with a range of digital and analog interfaces including GPIB, USB, VISA, TCP/IP, VLAN, CAN bus, SPI, I2C, Modbus, analog-to-digital conversion
- Experience troubleshooting interactions between software and hardware such as network devices and lab instrumentation
- Experience with MATLab, Python, AutoCAD, control system logic (PID, PLC)
- Strong skills in troubleshooting, debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing
Preferred Experience : 3-5 yrs
Preferred Field of Expertise :
- Experience building sensor networks from orthogonal sensor elements
- Experience with LabVIEW software
- Experience with configuration management and version control software
- Experience with finite element models and/or technical schematics (Unigraphics NX, FEMAP, ANSYS, etc.)
Salary: $96,186 - $121,517
