Experience Designers are responsible for the design of digitally enabled products and services. You will use your broad skillset across the service, interaction, and visual design domains to craft holistic design solutions, from early-stage idea generation through detailed design of product service features and user stories in a digital product.

As a Senior Experience Designer - Accessibility, you produce high fidelity experience deliverables across user experience and visual design. You plan, prioritize, and deliver design tasks in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Your fellow team members will rely on you to:

  • Ensure accessibility knowledge transfer through activities such as training sessions, documentation, and educational materials that empower the team with the skills needed to maintain high accessibility standards (~70% of your time)
  • Identify and establish best practice patterns in accessibility, creating benchmarks for product design that are inclusive from the ground up
  • Lead by example, performing hands-on design work when needed that demonstrates how accessible design not only benefits users with disabilities but enhances the user experience for all
  • Conduct thorough analyses to identify gaps in our current design practices and spearhead initiatives to bridge these with innovative solutions
  • Develop accessible system-level design patterns that serve as the cornerstone for product teams, integrated with Design Language Systems
  • Collaborate with strategy and technology leads to integrate accessibility into the DNA of our digital products, ensuring that every feature is approachable, understandable, and usable for everyone
  • Cultivate an environment of shared learning, where progress and iterations are welcomed and open discussions on design challenges are the norm
  • Build and maintain relationships with all levels of the design, product, and engineering teams to foster a culture of inclusive design thinking and ensure that accessibility considerations are an integral part of our design philosophy

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advocate for accessibility within the design community, both internally and externally, to promote awareness and adoption of best practices
  • Understand goals, business requirements and constraints, market opportunities and user needs to help define opportunity areas and experience requirements
  • Plan, conduct, and synthesize research, testing, and prototyping with users and SMEs
  • Design wireframes, screens, and prototypes to illustrate product behavior along defined use cases
  • Map existing and future experiences, both front and backstage users who are involved, through journey maps, blueprints, and ecosystem maps
  • Together with cross-disciplinary teams, create digital product experiences that push the bar for the current and future customer and user experience
  • Help define new product/service value propositions and influence roadmaps
  • Craft compelling narratives that bridge user aspirations with business objectives
  • Document product/service requirements and guidelines for following stages of implementation

We want you to have:

  • 8+ years of professional experience in experience/interaction design (although you might have had a different job title, like “UX designer”), and a robust practical and theoretical grounding in experience design through your studies
  • Ability to work onsite at company headquarters in Chicago three days per week
  • Familiarity with articulating and incorporating accessibility standards and guidelines into design documents and specifications
  • A passion for understanding customer and user needs, as well as experience working with UX researchers and conducting UX research
  • Exemplary core design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
  • A love of learning new things and growing your skills by diving in head-first to the task at hand
  • Excellent presentation skills, with a strong ability to clearly explain your work to others
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams
  • A deep knowledge of and expertise using design and prototyping tools (such as Figma) and design language systems
  • Affinity for frog’s values, and a passion for creating products that meet peoples’ functional and emotional needs
  • Experience working in an agile product delivery environment
  • Business-level ability to conduct business in English
  • Penchant to nerd-out on design and emerging trends

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Education background or experience in OT, Office of Accommodations with a focus on assistive technology, or a heavy background in assistive technology
  • Experience working in a variety of organizations (start-up, corporate, agency/consultancy)
  • Academic, professional, or life experience from outside the design field that enriches your perspective as a designer
