Software Engineer III - Full Stack, more Front End, some Back End

This is a remote position.

Organizational Overview:

The Federal Health business unit covers our work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, including HealthCare.gov, Medicare.gov, and the Blue Button API. Our team supports Federal Health in building and improving online public experiences and APIs that are reliable, accessible, and user-centered. We help millions of people enroll in healthcare and access Medicare and Medicaid benefits, and we help Federal Health improve the quality of Medicare and Medicaid services for beneficiaries and clinicians.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role, you will serve as an emerging individual contributor within a team, expanding your leadership, guidance, and mentoring skills. With the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule, and delivery requirements. You will interact with stakeholders and utilize influential skills to drive improvements in engineering processes and practices. Primary expectations of a Software Engineer III - Full Stack include:

  1. Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with a little feedback and guidance from their team.
  2. Practices technical and communications skills to improve context knowledge and mentor junior developers.
  3. Assesses and diagnoses issues with the systems they own, prioritizing problem areas based on alignment with other practice areas.
  4. Participates in on-call rotations with their team as necessary.
  5. Presents on and writes about their work to both internal and external parties.
  6. Participates in planning sessions, building an understanding of major architectures and design patterns.
  7. Supports recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviews.
  8. Exhibits influential skills to drive improvements in team engineering processes and practices.
  9. Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the business, how practices interact, and what customer problems we're solving.
  10. Languages: Go, TypeScript, Java, Python.
  11. Databases: PostgreSQL, RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB.
  12. Infrastructure-related tools: Docker, Terraform, Jenkins.
  13. Comfortable working as a Full Stack Engineer with more FE, willing to do BE as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Progressive experience with relevant technologies, understands roles with which they interact and how their work impacts business goals.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
