The Sr. Process Engineer will lead in depth multiple programs, develop, implement, and improve processes using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques, as well as create process control documents to support all production functions. You must also deploy established documents to ensure consistent, reliable and high-quality level product within economic constraints. Must apply "hands on", "roll up your sleeves" on the floor experience to deploy efficient and capable processes to various processes such as high model mix electronic repair and assembly, forward/reverse logistic and liquidation processes in response to business requirements.
This role must also manage New product introduction, new automated equipment specification creation, ROI justification, equipment procurement, debug, and installation.
In this role, they must coordinate across infrastructure teams and other functional areas of the organization with the goal of achieving Assurant KPI's and customer SLAs.
Primary Job Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Evaluate processes to drive down cost, increase capacity and reduce process time. Affected processes to include but not limited to cosmetics assessment, device reconditioning, device programming, component level testing, and final assembly functional, RF testing, device receipt and shipping.
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, & Excel) for purpose of editing, revising, and creating production documentation and process analysis.
- Perform time studies to establish process baselines to balance workloads
- Lead / participate in lean/six sigma process improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Support manufacturing operations with regards to device failure validation, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation.
- Coordinate with Assurant QA and Materials associates to address line impacting component escalations and determine alternate source components.
- Analyze production data and interpret results to direct Lean improvement initiatives.
- Design and develop fixturing / tooling to drive process efficiencies.
- Process / manufacturing facility layout designs to maximize throughput, yields, and quality
- Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures (returns) and repair process failures.
- Identify and report deficiencies and potential improvements to the department Supervisor
- Actively identify & pursue Lean process improvement initiatives
- Facilitate Lean Six Sigma (LSS) project management throughout the plant
- Process Development - 50%, Process Improvement/Review - 50%
On operations floor - 20% minimum on a typical day. - Lead analytical troubleshooting & problem solving. Coach and train others on these as well
- Collaborate with plant and leadership team, customers, suppliers, and production floor personnel to identify and facilitate projects to improve key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Testing Responsibilities, setting up of parameters with SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- Associates/Technical Degree with a minimum of 6+ years of experience or 8+ years of direct experience in Process Engineering activities described job responsibilities section.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/ Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent or 7+ years of active experience in Process Engineering activities described in job responsibilities section.
- Prefer Six Sigma Black belt and Lean Certification
- Automation and equipment line balancing & sustainment experience.
- Simulation experience with a simulation program.
- Work from complex Schematic, layouts, and diagrams.
- Work with Customers and other Organization Groups to document / develop process requirements.
- Interpret ISB's, CSB's, and FSB's and other product specific documentation to determine relevance to daily responsibilities.
- Experience with Minitab, Visio, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and / or Labview are preferred but not required.
- Actively identify & pursue process improvement initiatives resulting in decreased CPU.
- Identify and report deficiencies and potential improvements to the department Supervisor.
- Strong focus with continuous process improvement (CPI)
- Experience in a high volume, reverse logistics environment
- Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures (returns) and repair process failures.
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced, dynamic assembly and logistics environment

Pay Range:
$71,300.00 - $119,100.00
Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
