OUC - The Reliable One is presently seeking an Electric Tech II (Power Plant- Osceola Gas Generation) to join the Electric & Water Production division. At OUC, we don’t just work – we’re building a bright future of innovation and transformation for future generations.

We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced professional to be responsible for the troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of OUC’s power plant electrical systems and equipment. The Tech II classification is expected to hone and develop the mastery of power plant electrical maintenance skills, focusing on a specific area of the Power Plant while becoming more familiar over time with other areas. They are expected to be able to work independently on simple to moderate tasks. Tech II electricians work with high voltage (up to 6.9 kv) systems. Systems and equipment include but are not limited to the supporting and auxiliary electrical systems within and on: pumps, compressors, turbines, piping, valves, crushers, boilers, etc.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of four (4) years of power plant Electrical maintenance experience, OR seven (7) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
  • Certifications and specialized training to be required upon hire and to be maintained.
  • Completion of required General Physics (GPI) learnings and Job Performance Measures (JPMs) through Electric Technician III progression level (or equivalent skills training if external candidate)

Salary Range: Starting at $36.49 per hour (Estimated $75,899.20 annually) with a structured step progression system and performance-based pay increases every 6 months up to $42.18 per hour (Estimated $87,734.40 annually)

Job Purpose: Responsible for the troubleshooting and preventative maintenance of OUC’s power plant electrical systems and equipment. The Tech II classification is expected to hone and develop the mastery of power plant electrical maintenance skills, focusing on a specific area of the Power Plant while becoming more familiar over time with other areas. They are expected to be able to work independently on simple to moderate tasks. Tech II electricians work with high voltage (up to 6.9 kv) systems. Systems and equipment include but are not limited to the supporting and auxiliary electrical systems within and on: pumps, compressors, turbines, piping, valves, crushers, boilers, etc.

Primary Functions:

  • Troubleshoot power plant electrical systems, including problem identification, evaluation of alternative solutions, and implementation of corrective action;
  • Perform installations, maintenance, tear down evaluation, and re-builds of supporting and auxiliary electrical devices within or on valves, bearings, turbines, high and low horsepower fans, pumps, air compressors, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems (pneumatic and belt), crushers and all equipment related to a power plant; Advanced tasks on aforementioned equipment may be done under supervision of a Tech I until demonstrated full proficiency;
  • Learn and assist with programming the control logic for feedback systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (i.e. Modicon, Allen Bradley, etc.) to ensure accurate readings and information reach the appropriate places and people (i.e. control rooms/power plant operators);
  • Perform inspections on jobs performed by lower classification technicians to ensure quality and standards;
  • Demonstrate proficiency of instrumentation and control (I&C) skills at the Tech III level (Competent in less complex tasks, developing in moderate/advanced tasks);
  • Utilize P&IDs and other documentation displaying the configuration and specification of parts, equipment, and systems to perform maintenance work;
  • Mentor and guide lower classification technicians within the Electric Tech’s duties to help with their learning and development in progression;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: This job requires willingness to work extended hours when required including nights, weekends, and holidays. This job requires working in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, confined spaces, excessive noise, chemicals, noxious fumes, vibration, extreme heat (non-weather), insects, and occasionally extreme weather conditions. This job involves risk of electrical shock.

Physical Requirements: This job includes constant or very frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, speaking & hearing (English), typing, and detailed inspection/reading/editing. This job involves frequent lifting up to 40 lbs, and occasional lifting 50+ lbs, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and/or digging, reaching overhead, and kneeling/crawling. This job requires regular use of company vehicles.
