NDT firms run by NDT people! Position Summary: Acuren is currently recruiting for a Senior Cathodic Protection Project Engineer. This position is remote and does not require relocation, and requires comprehensive Cathodic Protection field experience and knowledge. Responsibilities:
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and corrosion theory to execute projects or complete various aspects of projects
  • Gather structure-to-soil potential data, soil measurements and rectifier data
  • Perform continuity tests and soil resistivity measurements
  • Install, test, adjust and/or repair rectifiers, anodes, and CP test points/stations
  • Locate pipelines and document positional pipeline information utilizing electro-magnetic and GPS equipment
  • Perform over-the-line depth of cover, close interval CP and coating surveys and associated data evaluation
  • Identify and remediate AC and/or DC interference and foreign influence issues
  • Generate field sketches or update existing drawings with rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other design features to be included for final drafting
  • Function as field crew leader or development team lead when necessary
  • Document physical features of installation site for subsequent detailed as-built drawings
  • Organize and optimize survey information collected to prepare reporting charts and tables
  • Develop and optimize reporting charts and tables according to client specifications and industry guidelines
  • Prepare field survey remedial recommendations and final job reports
  • Review data, discuss objectives and expectations, and suggest appropriate engineering methods and procedures
  • Understand and execute various data acquisition and assessment procedures that are specific to pipeline integrity programs
  • Apply project management techniques to initiate, plan, execute, control, and close projects
  • Develop operating procedures and provide training to technical staff
  • Field test equipment, software and testing procedures; log results and communicate to development team(s); provide issue resolution recommendations to development team(s)
  • Conform to corporate, client, and government operating and safety procedures
  • Develop trusted business relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Assist with growth of the department and/or region by conducting ongoing sales with existing and prospective clients
  • Assist with training, mentorship and on-site management of Junior Staff
  • Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • NACE CP level 3 Certification or working towards
  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Engineering
  • Eng. Designation or working towards
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record
  • Proficiency in electronic mapping systems
  • Rectifier Training
  • Pipeline/oil field experience is considered an asset
  • Proven project management skills
  • Cathodic Protection AIT Certification (Level 1 or 2) considered an asset
  • Safety tickets such as First Aid, CSTS, H2S, WHMIS considered an asset
