The primary responsibility of this position is to develop & implement programs that comply with federal, state and local safety & environmental regulations. Investigate all safety & occupational health related injuries/accidents. Implement all corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of injuries & incidents. Maintain a current working knowledge of EHS regulations & understand how they impact business. Interact with agency contacts & lead on-site visits or inspections from EHS regulatory personnel. Manage the storage, recycle, reuse & disposal of residual, universal and hazardous wastes. Maintain records in accordance with appropriate standards and regulations.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
  • Understand and implement machine guarding where needed
  • Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Develop, implement and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.)
  • Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies
  • Maintain recordkeeping and compliance requirements established for permitted sources defined by the local AQMD
  • Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including DOT
  • Maintain compliance

What is required for this role:

  • Experience with emergency management practices
  • Experience in the implementation of programs for EHS federal and California regulatory compliance
  • Experience in the development of EHS policies, standards and procedures
  • Experience in hazard and risk identification and analysis
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering
  • 5-10 Years of EH&S in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment (preferred)
